Case: Sensitivity needed to understand the in-service training demands
The global industry group works in an ambitious and target oriented manner with maintaining high quality level on their in-service training, their own in-house Academy.They use a number of external education consultants for their different programs, and PlanB is working with their International Project Management Program.
We asked their Program Manager about how the work together with PlanB is proceeding and if there is a difference from the other suppliers of educational consultant support from the outside.
Listening to the client is crucial
- A very important prerequisite for us when using external consultants is that they are good listeners, that they are sensitive for our specific needs and able to adapt to our internal conditions, says the Program Manager and continues:
- We actually prefer that our consultants adjust a little to our culture or “inhale some of our DNA”. It takes a real effort to understand and get to know our ways.
- The consultant from PlanB’s really took the time to get to know our organization and international operations very carefully, in order to understand our needs in connection to the International Project Management Program. For us this works as proof of a high quality delivery.
More interactivity during courses
- One distinguishing fact about the delivery from PlanB is that they use new, creative methods of learning that creates a more interactive program. They have the courage to be a bit provocative and to ask the challenging questions, which has been very useful for us.
- PlanB’s participation is actually of vital importance to our International one-year project management program since they open the program. During these first three days they manage to create a very fine spirit among the participants, an atmosphere and sense of unity that is important for the rest of the program.- The unusual methods they use when teaching helps to create this special spirit and this is an important reason for why I would like to recommend PlanB to other companies in this context.
More the character of a partnership
- One could almost say that our relationship with PlanB is more like a partnership than one of customer/supplier, much due to the fact that they have investigated which ongoing projects we have right now and then been able to adjust the program in a useful way to our reality.
