An organization’s leadership succession is probably one of the most critical areas to focus on if you want to increase an organization’s agility. Likewise, the supply of leaders is often a crucial part of the work of integrating and strengthening the implementation of strategic changes in operations.
There are special requirements for management development in an era where the only thing we can be certain of is that everything will change. The way we develop managers set limits and provide the basis for how they will then manage transitions. In a traditional leader development process, the managers are not equipped to lead from the eye of the storm of change.
PlanB is passionate about helping leaders to manage change. Among other things, we do that with action-based learning where the experience is an important part. As much as possible of the training is in the real world – whether we make it through on-the-job training, simulations, coaching or case is not the decisive factor. The important thing is that education is rooted in the manager’s reality and that as much as possible of the knowledge and skills are further brought out in the workplace.
Our programs are based on principles from the military and the Kaospilot University. We mix the action-based training with the latest research findings. Our consultants are well educated and have extensive managerial experience. We collaborate with researchers from Lund University.
PlanB has developed concepts that are aimed at different stages of leadership, different levels of experience. Our programs are customized and we have experience in offering programs to the following target groups:
Prospective managers
Formerly known as the trainee program – we call it Generation Incubator. The baby boomers are about to retire, and that creates a great need to rapidly develop mature leaders who can shoulder the responsibility. Years of experience must be developed in months. We help businesses to train young talents to become balanced leaders for future challenges.
New managers
To go from being one in the gang to become a boss demands a lot. PlanB train the new managers, and we give them tools to motivate, organize and lead activities. Group coaching and personal development are often integral parts of the programs.
First-line managers
In this program we focus on operational leadership and change and improvement leadership as equal parts in achieving the strategies, objectives and performance. Participants will explore and create an understanding of what it means to be the manager who creates the conditions for a business to succeed in its mission and deliver results.
Manager of managers
An advanced management development program where participants are required to handle critical business issues and implement real projects on behalf of the president / CEO. We focus on the manager / leader’s strategic expertise as part of the success of its mission. The program is structured around PlanB’s process tool, the Strategic Loop, a model that aims to deepen and develop the strategic skills and provide further insight into how managers at this level can deal with the complex realities they work in.
The program develops the leaders’ systems thinking, pattern recognition and ability to shape and implement realistic and challenging strategies. They get a deeper understanding of their personal leadership in relation to the organization’s future issues. Leaders learn process methodologies and get tools to work on strategy and business development in their own organization. They will also receive tools to be able to involve the organization in the efforts of transforming strategies into concrete results.
